“We spent the first three years of boat ownership in the tropics in bikinis and sunscreen. A Maine winter is a whole new ball of wax,” said Leah Kruger.

“I just want to take some of the stress out of living on an island,” says Kevin Wentworth.

The author documents two kinds of journeys—one a road trip she and her husband Travis embarked on, the other, the psychological one the couple delved into to confront and untangle the pernicious effects of childhood sexual abuse.

One couple is moving into their new empty-nest house. The other, into their first home. The houses are nearly identical, which isn’t surprising, given that they were designed by the same architects.

The effort to convert the dormant rail line into a trail began in 1987. The Sunrise Trail Coalition formed later to allow users and other stakeholders to have a voice in the plans. The two goals were to provide a place for healthy outdoor recreation and to spur economic development.
